Classroom Novels
Fox Valley Lutheran High School's
Library Media Center has a program available to all federation grade school
teachers. It consists of classroom novel sets (30-35 copies each of 30
different titles), which can be checked out during the school year on a
quarterly basis for use in their classrooms. We will be adding three new
sets to our collection: From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler
by E. L. Konigsburg; A Single Shard, by Linda Sue Park; and Snow Treasure,
by Marie McSwigan. These are still on back order and not yet available for
check out to the teachers. I will send out an updated list as soon as I
receive the books and get them processed.
The novel sets cover reading levels for grades 4 through 8 and above, and
most come with teaching or study guides. Novel sets are reserved on a first
come, first served basis. It is the responsibility of the teacher requesting
use of the books to pick them up at the beginning of the quarter and return
them to FVL at the end of the quarter so they will be available for the next
school to use. Arrangements can be made for a student from your congregation
who attends FVL to deliver the book sets for you.
The following pages list the novel sets available. If you would like to make
use of this program, please phone in your requests by calling FVL at
920-739-4441, ext. 2132, and ask for Mrs. Cheryl Kuehn or Mrs. Faith
Liebzeit at ext. 2134. Please pass this information on to the other teachers
at your school that might be interested in using the classroom novels.
In the past, we have been able to add new titles to this collection because
of the fund raising efforts of various congregations within our federation.
If your school, or an organization in your school or church, is interested
in making a similar contribution, please call the FVL Library Media Center
for more information. Also, if you have suggestions for titles to add to the
collection, please do not hesitate to contact us.
