Financial Aids Scholarship Update

Several new scholarship opportunities have been recently
received in the Guidance Office and we would like to make them available to
students. They are listed below. If you are interested in receiving information
on any of the scholarships listed, please indicate below. Please call the Guidance Office of your
own district public high school for information on local scholarships.

A $1,000 scholarship is being offered to a graduating senior of an

Applicant must be a graduating senior from Appleton North, Appleton
East, Appleton West, Fox Valley Lutheran, or Xavier high school and reside in
the Appleton Area School District. The recipient of the award will receive
$1,000 in support of a post-secondary degree from an accredited university (two
or four year) or a technical college. In
addition to a “B” average, the scholarship recipient will be evaluated relative
to financial need, participation in school and/or community activities
and work experience. One candidate
will be chosen from each school to compete for the scholarship. Deadline to Guidance is March 15, 2008.

Scholarship Foundation
Open
to students planning to pursue a degree in Civil, Architectural Engineering or
Construction Management. This is usually $1,000 per year for four years.
Students must be graduating from high schools in Brown, Door, Oconto or
Outagamie counties and plan to attend one of the following colleges:

Scholarship
This scholarship provides financial assistance to
needy graduating seniors for their first year of college who are interested in
pursuing degrees that enhance rural communities. The scholarship may be up to
four years. The scholarship award is $1,750 for the freshman year and can be
renewed for up to four years. Each successive year the award increases.
Preference will be given to students planning a career that will directly
enhance rural communities such as dairy science, animal science, agricultural
engineering, veterinary medicine and indirectly relating to agriculture
management such as agricultural economics, biotechnology, computer science,
environmental science, business administration and education. Students must
have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and have a satisfactory ACT or SAT test
score. Deadline is April 1, 2008.

Jacquot Scholarship for the
Applicants
for the above scholarships must be planning to go into a health care
career. These scholarships will only be
awarded to applicants planning to attend a four-year or greater institution in

Cellcom Scholarship
Open to high school seniors or graduates planning to
enroll, or a student already enrolled, in a full-time undergraduate course at
an accredited two-or four-year college, university or vocational-technical
school during the 2008-2009 school year. Two $500 scholarships per Cellcom market or 12 award winners will be chosen.
Applicants must be US citizens and be a resident of a state where Cellcom operates including WI, and MI. Winners are selected
on the basis of academic record, potential to succeed, leadership and participation
in school and community activities, honors, work experience, a statement of
educational and career goals and an outside appraisal. Financial need is not
considered. Deadline is March 5, 2008.
______ Kaukauna Utilities Line Worker Scholarship
$500
will be awarded to one student from the Kaukauna service territory that is
interested in attending one of the Electric Power Distribution courses offered
by technical colleges in
______ Kaukauna Utilities Scholarship
This
is open to high school seniors who reside in the Kaukauna service area.
The award will be $1,000 to a deserving
senior who plans to pursue a post secondary education in engineering or some
other technically related field. The student may attend a 4-year college or a
technical college. Selection will be based on educational goals, grades,
community service and need. If interested, see Mrs. Knoll in Guidance. Deadline
is March 1, 2008.
______ Heart of the Valley Chamber of Commerce
Scholarship
Seniors who live in the following school districts
and attend one of the following schools, are invited to apply: Freedom, Kaukauna,
Kimberly, Little Chute, Wrightstown, Xavier and Fox Valley Lutheran. Students
must be planning to pursue a full time course of study at a college, university
or vocational/technical school. Preference will be given to applicants who have
a connection to the Chamber of Commerce either through their employer or their
parent’s employer. Applicants must have a past or present work experience,
which may include apprenticeships, co-op programs, summer work, part-time work
or work in a family business or on a family farm. A minimum Grade Point Average
of 2.5 is required, or students must have shown considerable improvement in
academic performance. Applicants must have demonstrated community involvement
which could include, school organizations, religious organizations, community
groups, volunteer work or other involvement.

scholarship must be used for full-time undergraduate study at an accredited
college or university. Applicants will be judged on overall academic
achievement, extra-curricular, community and service involvement, and a written
essay. Preference will be given to applicants associated with or located within
the service area of Thomas Kees, Post 496. Deadline

Scholarship
This is only the second year this scholarship has
been offered. It was established by Dr. Monroe Trout and Sandra Lemke Trout in

______ NFIB Young Entrepreneur Foundation Scholarship
Applicants
must be graduating high school seniors who are entering their freshman year at
an accredited two-or-four year university, college or vocational institute in
the fall of 2008. The student must demonstrate entrepreneurial spirit and
initiative through examples such as: starting his/her own business;
participating in organization such as DECA, Junior Achievement, Future Business
Leaders of America (FBLA) Future Farmers of America (FFA) National foundation
for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE), among others; or through other
initiatives. An officially

Two $500 scholarships are available for graduating seniors who are
children of policyholders of Ellington Mutual Insurance Company. University and

______ US Bank’s Internet Scholarship Program
US
Bank will award up to thirty $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors
planning to attend accredited two-or four-year colleges, full-time next fall.
