Emphasizes basic vocabulary and grammar needed to speak and write simple Spanish sentences.  Includes an introduction to Hispanic culture.

Prerequisite: A grade of B- or higher in English 1 and 2 (if already taken)

SPAN2  Spanish 2  1.00 credit

Helps student attain an acceptable degree of proficiency in the four skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing; as well as an appreciation of Hispanic culture.

Prerequisite: Grade of C or higher in Spanish 1

Note:  If a student completes Spanish 1 with a grade lower than C and wants to take Spanish 2, he/she may be allowed to do so with the teacher's approval.  However, the student must maintain a grade of at least a C at the end of Term 1 and 2 in order to remain in Spanish 2.

SPAN3  Spanish 3  1.00 credit

Concentrates on improving oral and written communication skills through conversation and Spanish literature.

Prerequisite: A grade of C or higher in Spanish 2, highly interested and motivated student

Recommendation:  High interest in careers in which a study of a foreign language is beneficial

Concentrates on expanding oral and written communication skills through conversation and Spanish literature.

Prerequisite: A grade of C or higher in Spanish 3
